Recommended Moreton Bay Destinations:

• Peel Island/Horseshoe Bay and North Stradbroke are great sailing grounds in the protected southern end of hte Moreton Bay Marine Park. Peel Island is a gorgeous unhabited island, only accessable by boat, and is an ideal anchorage on a day sail for a comfy BBQ or lunch.  With white sandy beaches and a protected bay to swim in, Peel island is popluar with snorkellers. Reachable in approx 2.5 hours, it allows for a comfortable and relaxing day sailing destination!
• Tangalooma wrecks (Moreton Island) is 20nmi (35km) approx 3.5 hr sail each way from Manly Harbour, Tangalooma Wercks are famous for as a great snorkelling destination - it is achievable to reach in a day, and best left to the the keen sailor as it makes for a a full days sailing.  Big Sandhills on Moreton Island, are a slightly closer destination on Moreton Island, and provide sandboarding as a great destination activity!
• Brisbane River - Brisbane City - Celebaration events love the Brisbane river as a destination, as it is flat and provides for a great view, especially in the twilight and the glimmer of the city lights.

How to choose a boat:

• Monohulls to get into racing or sail as fast as you can, and experience the excitement as it leans under sail, or choose a
• Catamarans for a more relaxing experience with a little extra space.  Being more stable and sailing level (great for the kids or the newer sailors - your champagne also will remains safely on the level saloon table!)
